PREPARING BEDS PART 2!! JJ

6.30 am in the morning, all of the degree planters we assembled for muster roll call in front of college building close to the agriculture workshop. I came late at 7 o’clock in the morning and had punished by assistant chief of the group. During the roll call we were listening to the speech by Sir Shahrizan. He asked us to make a blog as the report for every week that we present at the share farm. From his order this awesome blog create. This is the fourth week we at the share farm. During this week, we still prepare the beds. Sir Shahrizans ask us to make an additional bed for each planter. I had divided all of the planters into 3 groups. First group marked the area for the new additional beds, second group did cleaning task for opening the new area for new beds, and the third group did preparing the beds. All of us doing well on the share farm, unfortunately we did not pending done our target which is making two beds for each one of us. We need extra times to settle up our target for the week. Ropes, hoes, diggers, and carts were used for cleaning, preparing beds, and marking new area. Hopefully we could done our target and do not get any scolded by our supervisor and lectures. Please pray for us. We are planters. One for all, all for one.

(PLANTER’S SONG)

We start the day with planter’s song, UiTM Dihatiku song, Asma Al-Husna, Morning Prayer, and a little bit motivation from the lecture and our supervisor. After completely cleaning the area stage, now we move to the second step which is preparing the beds. Our supervisor, Encik Khairul wanted us to prepare only one bed as a task for us from him. Before we started making the bed, Encik Khairul gave us an instruction of making the bed. The bed that we need to make is 1 meter width and 4 meters long, so we needed to mark about 60×85 square feet for 60 beds. The area must have drains for water flow and agro road to be used as a road from one bed to another bed. The beds must be 2 feet from the drain and 1 feet from each other. The agro road must be in 3 feet width. Those beds must be finish by 17 October 2014. We divided into three groups to complete the task. First group are making the drain, second group marking the area and beds, and third group preparing the beds. Together all of us run our own work with enthusiasm and enjoy it happily.

CLEANING TIME!!

I was appointed as a KG(Khan Gani) for leading my fellow friends at the share farm. It is a very big office that I need to be responsible. At the share farm I need to guide all of the degree part 1 students to achieve our what to do target for every week. Hopefully I could run my work as a leader successfully. This week we are doing cleaning the share farm. We need to clean all of the unwanted weed and tree before we prepare our own beds for growing up spinach, lady okra, mustard, and beans. We used hoes and machetes in order the clean the area. A whole week we used to make sure that all of the area clean and prepare to form the beds. Some of the students include me injured because of holding the hoe and machete to long. This wound exists due to burn when doing cleaning activity. Those wounds and scars mean nothing for us because we had a very enjoyable time together at the share farm.

12 SEPTEMBER 2014

The first day we entered UiTM Mallaca campus Jasin’s farm. Before we entered the farm, we were divided into five groups consisting of 57 students from Faculty of Plantation and Agriculture.  There is 100 hectares area provide from the UiTM to be used as a farm for studying about plantation. The farm covered by the peat which usually been use for growing the palm oil. In there, we as the student were given a task to grow up leafy and fruity plants before we end our first semester as a degree student. We need to explore and use our knowledge that we learn in the class to be practice on the farm to complete our FPA400 assignment. I hope my friends and I will discover a lot of knowledge and the new ideas that we will be used in future.
